Svendborg, Denmark
13 July
We stayed in Svendborg for two nights. On our one full day there, we were to take the ferry over to the island of Aero, and ride around it. When I woke up, rain was threatening. Roger and I decided to take the trip over to Aero and play miniature golf, if we could. Roger brought his bike so that he could do at least some riding afterwards. Once we got on the ferry, the sky quickly cleared, and it turned out to be a lovely day, if quite windy.
When we got into Aero, we played one round on the miniature golf course. It was spare (no gorillas or waterfalls), but ridiculously difficult. Even though Roger had four or five holes-in-one, I still managed to win, because he often got tens on the other holes. It was the worst golf that I ever played.
After the golf, Roger took off for a ride, and I wandered around Aeroskobing, the town on Aero where the ferry landed. It reminded of nothing so much as a Danish version of Martha's Vineyard. I walked past a fenced in field with horses to some small beach houses facing the wind off of the Baltic. With the wind, it was too cold for me to wear shorts, but there were actually people in the water. I walked around town back to the center, had lunch, and caught the next ferry back to Svendborg.
